Poe

The quick answer

Should you try Poe?

Try it if: Trying the same everyday writing or learning task with more than one official AI bot in one place.

Skip it if: You want one obvious tool with no bot selection, fixed per-message costs, or a place to paste sensitive work files.

Free-plan reality: A free plan is available. Poe says non-paying users receive points that reset every 24 hours without rollover. The account we tested showed 300 points at the start; two short writing requests used 27 and 47 points. Allowance and costs may change.

Before you paste or upload: Check each bot’s privacy shield. Fully shaded requests are not used by model providers for training; half-shield bots or apps may share content with developers or outside resources and may allow training. Avoid sensitive information.

If you have an email to answer but cannot find the right words, Poe can draft a reply. It lets you ask several AI bots the same question without switching websites. Start with an Official bot, use a short non-sensitive prompt, then check the answer before sending it.

What Poe helps with

Poe is useful when you want a first draft, a simpler explanation, or two different approaches to the same task. For example, we asked two Official bots to reply to a fictional colleague requesting a draft agenda. Both kept the promised Thursday-afternoon timing and invited corrections. One gave a short reply; the other gave a more complete email with a subject and sign-off. Neither added factual commitments we had not supplied.

The easiest way to start

  1. Sign in to Poe and choose an Official bot. If the range of bots feels overwhelming, begin with Assistant rather than exploring the full catalog.
  2. Give it one concrete task. Try: “A colleague asked for a draft agenda before Friday. Write a short, polite reply saying I can send it Thursday afternoon and welcome corrections. Do not add details I did not provide.” Use fictional or non-sensitive details for your first test.
  3. Check the draft’s names, dates, promises, and tone. Edit it yourself before you send it to anyone.

Free-plan reality

Poe uses points. Its help center says free users receive points each day; unused points do not carry over. Each bot shows an estimated cost, and the exact charge can depend on the message. In our free-account test, the balance started at 300 points; the two email requests used 27 and 47 points. That is an example, not a promise that every account or bot has the same allowance. Check the bot’s Rates and your balance before a long conversation. Paid plans offer more points and access to additional bots.

Privacy and limitations

Poe’s privacy protection is not identical for every bot. Check the shield in the bot information and, after sending, the message information. A fully shaded shield and a half-shaded shield mean different things: the latter may share content with third-party developers or external resources and may allow training. Even with an Official bot, avoid confidential company data, private contact information, passwords, and sensitive files. A polished answer can also be wrong or add a commitment you did not mean to make.

Why H5W rates it this way

Poe delivered a useful email draft on the first try, and comparing another Official bot improved the presentation of the answer. It is less straightforward than a single-assistant site for a beginner: there are many bots, points are variable, and privacy depends on the bot. These strengths and drawbacks support H5W’s 4.3/5 rating.
